Hydrangeas just might be my very favorite flower. They certainly are for summer. And since summer is on its way and hydrangea is arguably the flower of the season. Decorating with hydrangeas is so easy from the time they bloom and, if preserved correctly, until long after they've dried.
In a sun room or on a porch, choose a color and cluster them together for an abundance of supple petals.
Indoors, add them to a sideboard in the living room or dining room, or to a hutch in the kitchen.
And hydrangea are the perfect centerpiece for a formal or casual dining room table.
Indoors or out, whether the setting be rustic or elegant, and whether the time of day is morning, noon, or night, hydrangeas are always right at home.

I love studying the statistics that correlate to how people find my blogs. Over at Seasons for All at Home, there are a few clear trends. Neck in neck are searches for "decorating with pink and green" and "decorating with blue and white."
I'd love to know which color combination you like better, so please cast your vote by taking the survey here. Thank you!
While most of us spend time tapping keyboards, there is still something very pensive and even romantic about a writing desk. The opinions and sentiments expressed when putting pen to paper flow differently than those from a keyboard. Sometimes I tell myself I'm going to spend more time putting pen to paper than tapping on a keyboard. Thoughts flow differently through ink. And the result is a tangible souvenir of moments spent sharing those thoughts with another.
If lovely writing desks interest you, take a look at those I've included today over at Seasons for All at Home.
It must be because Spring is only a few days away that I am so loving the combination of pink and green.
I've written two posts on this color combination over at Seasons for All at Home. The first is here, and the second is here.
And The Tea Room is welcoming Spring with tulips -- pink tulips, which naturally have green stems.
Whether it is pink and green or another color combination that represents Spring to you, I hope you are welcoming the new season, too.
Do you recognize this room in a hotel located in a world-famous city? I have had tea in this grand room with my grandmother, my mother, and my sisters.
The hotel and experience of dining there are as elegant as it appears in this photograph. If you are curious to see more photographs of this historic spot, just click here.
I watched the movie Something's Gotta Give again over the weekend. I love that movie, particularly the interior design and decorating of the beach house owned by Diane Keaton's character! Soothing palettes of cream and blue compliment the seaside setting. The fresh cut flowers on surfaces within the home were absolutely stunning!
Below are two photos from the movie.

I was again so inspired by these interiors that I spent much of Monday removing and minimizing accessories in my living room and dining room. I hung a painting, and created sleek but warm vignettes. When I was done, I lit the fire and snapped this photo of one section of my living room.
It was pouring rain outside, so spending time at home-sweet-home was the perfect end to a lovely holiday weekend. And when I'm out and about this week, I'm going to pick up some fresh cut flowers to put the finishing touch on my refreshed rooms.
